While Zen Practice May Have What Some Might See As
Certain Theraputic Effects It Is Not Really Designed
As Therapy For Any Specific Condition. This Being The
Case It Is A Good Idea To Seek A Teacher Who Can
Tailor A Practice For The Specific Person In Question.
The Practice Of Zen Often Increases Anxiety For
Periods Of Time For Example, Which Should Be Carefully
Monitored In The Case Of Someone With An Anxiety
Disorder. Medications Have Other Effects On Practice
As Well. Take Ibuprofin For Pain In Your Back And It
Will Probably End Up Making You Very Twitchy. An
Experienced Zen Teacher Might Suggest Another Solution
Like Sitting In A Chair Or Continuing Your Zazen By
Squatting And Weeding The Garden For A While. Such
Options Depend On Individual Needs And The Resources
Of The Practice Center. Do They Have A Chair Or Garden
Availible? One Should Be Very Carefull In Applying
Instruction Given To Another To Yourself As Well. A
Zen Master Might Tell One They Think To Much And
Another To Use Their Head.
