I always expect at least a mocking from this list -- but instead I get silence. Am I being punished?
Any advice anyone? Rod Scholl ------------- You touch on a subject that I think about recently, Fudo. That most vows taken are broken. There's some saying/quote out there, "No one ever asked me to make a promise I thought I could keep." So it seems a vow is a propping up of what is already flimsy with something even flimsier. I appreciate the ritual, so I'm not against vows (I am recently married after all :) -- and I don't think taking of vows is a bad idea, but it seems more of a public declaration of intent as much for others as oneself, as a communicator of how I hold something important. As a way to self-motivate I don't see vows being stronger or more helpful than the original drive towards whatever was the vow's intent. If the drive leaves, will my commitment to not breaking vows stand up for long? In fact, it is my commitment to all the stupid vows of childhood which I am bound up by, and have to cut away...
