Yes, I agree. And, in my opinion, the "zen inspiration" goes even
beyond the script and the characters. The narrative style adopted by
Lucas in the chapters IV, V and VI, for instance, was copied from a
japanese director. Basically, in these chapters, Lucas avoided
overloading the spectator with a detailed discription of the "star
wars" world. He simply gave the spectator enough information so that
he/she could understand the plot and the characters envolved in the
journey. It is a kind of "light and shadow" narrative that, I
believe, is far more interesting (and inspiring) than the kind of
direct narrative adopted in the new movies, in which everything is
explained in detail (without the inspiration and style of the
chapters IV, V and VI). Perhaps was this kind of narrative that
really impressed me when I was a child, and made somehow register, in
an uncouscious way, all the "zen message" that underlines the "Star
Wars" saga. Now, I am not saying that today I am a zen practioner
because I watched Star Wars when I was 8-years-old, but I think that
it certainly "ringed a bell".

   Regards,

   Francisco.
