After three years of the so-called Monks having free reign to degrade mostly everyone, to my knowledge nobody gained enlightenment or had even a minor Satori. If you have gained Enlightenment as a result of being told that you are stupid, please raise your hand.
Last week I noticed that after posting a message about a bland topic like Evolution, I had to get personally attacked by a couple of people because they think that they are geniuses and they know all the answers and nobody except an uneducated moron could even question the matter. So what have I nurtured? A list where nothing can be discussed without personal attacks? Is that what Zen is about? I don't think so. Pandabananasock's remarks reminded me that a list with a couple of nasty monks and a few other jerks is a pretty pathetic place to learn about Zen. We can all attack and degrade each other. But that is not Zen or discussion, or anything that is worthwhile or good or positive. Some of you think that Zen is not supposed to be good or positive. But I think that if your idea of discussion is to degrade others, then perhaps you just lack social skills and cannot participate in a positive or meaningful way. Using Zen to pretend that your character flaws are virtues seems to be what is going on here, as illustrated by our esteemed Monks. I am on other Zen lists, and nobody that attacks others is permitted. I have allowed people to act out on this list, and yet they never change. For every inspirational post that an abusive person made, there were ten or twenty degrading remarks. I permitted it, and I apologize. I thought that the Zen Monks could teach us something of value, and I guess they did. They taught me that if something is wrong, it does not get any better because a Zen Monk is doing it. ------------------------ Yahoo!
