To know that I am not 'this' life is not enough. Such knowledge leads to false enlightenment. Without cleansing the spirit I am still activated by cause and effect. Without cleansing the spirit I am unable to perform right thought, right action and the rest. A person doesn't get in trouble by being crazy, a person gets in trouble by acting crazy. Without cleansing the spirit I am led to inaction and back to the cycle of rebirth. I offer my spirit, clean I am free. Today I witnessed an enlightenment of a moth. As I returned from performing an obligation, I witnessed a bird and a moth engaged in a life and death struggle. As I watched them both, for an instant they presented their actions to me, immediately, however, continuing the attack and evasions. As I mused aloud to them, 'you are not this life,' they stopped mid-action to listen and consider what I said. As I went on with my walk, the action carried to completion. Suddenly my mind was filled with joyous praising from the moth to the bird for setting him free.
