You're making perfect sense; but sense (rationality) is a restriction when
talking about buddha nature.  Buddha nature is not something that can be
bound by rationality and therefore resists attempts to characterize or
define it.  The best we can do is to allude to it in analogies - like
poetry; or just not speak about it directly.  You did use some good poetic
imagery with your bottle cap, mirror pieces and drop of water analogies.
