Dear Friends, I lurk here but never post...however, I am tempted to submit humble post about the similarities between Buddhism and Chrsitianity that so often crops up.... In fact they are so similar that even the succession of order and heirarchy in churches and watts is the same... There are so many similarities that people often speculate if Jesus went to India to study Buddhism..
But they aren't doing their homework well. In SriLanka is a geneology of the Buddha's family...and it includes two Hebrew grandfathers (Yudhithistra being one of the,,,,and Yudhithistra was in all proabablity King David) Further, if you are famliar with a website "The Reluctant Messenger"...it's noted that both Buddha and Jesus lifted directly from Enoch, whose writings were very well known in the ancient world...The Buddha referenced Enoch at least 15 times...and Jesus approximately one hundred times.... Are you familiar with Carl Sagan and modern cosmology? We know that planets are not long-term abodes for life...planets perish and the Aatoms of all life forms that ever existed on them get recycled back into the great dust bin of the universe....like reshaping play-do over and over again into different shapes and life forms... Flesh and blood especially are not long-term or safe abodes for life. Science agrees that for life to continue , it will have to evolve into an electrical form...a form of intelligence based on light would do... Is this possible? Of course, and we see the concepts being practiced in the world every day...Mind over matter, mental telepathy, ESP, prayers being answered (a form of telepathy we use to transmit "out" out and get replies or help back) I think Christianity left out a lot of the help that Buddhism offers...and I think a blend of both is also very feasible... That's my two cents worth...now you all have a wonderful holiday season, whatever your beliefs, and I'll go back into lurk mode.. Wishing you all the very best! ------------------------ Yahoo!
