I have a two server farm, so tried your scenario putting one of the servers in
to maintenance mode (on a manually defined TCP farm). This does appear to work
correctly, and I am able to see the farm summary and manage it successfully.
On a similar note, I then disabled both 'real' servers, and my web traffic
continues for a short time (a few seconds) - and then as expected - all traffic
stopped to my web servers. Reversing the 'maintenance mode' allowed access to
the web pages.
Sounds like it could be your config Johnny.

I havent't reviewed the docs, so not sure if this is noted or there is a
process for this to work.
strange, i put a real server into maintenance mode to test it, but when it
returns all the items for that farm are label as "-1" and the actions icons are
all gone, so basically you can't manage anything else.
It seems to be putting the whole farm into maintenance mode, not just the
selected server.
I remove the XXX_status.cfg files and the controls returned. the icons reappeard

there are more issues, but please confirm it is not my setup.
