Hi, For reference, I'm working with one client who uses ZLB now for >6 months in production. It is doing pretty standard HTTP load balancing, works very well. Running roughly ~2 Mbps sustained traffic 24/7. There are very occasional minor glitches but generally it is a very solid product that I think is well suited for production use. Definitely the project is still under active development and I find it well supported (in case you have concerns on that front).
- I would recommend clean install from ISO rather than using pre-built VM appliance, it is really quick and easy to install. I usually give the VMs very modest HW allocations (1-2 vCPU, 1gb ram, 4gb disk thin provisioned) - and it never stresses this hardware config). - I'm running it as KVM-based virtual machines (virtio NIC and HDD drivers) which work flawlessly out of the box (debian under the hood for ZLB recognizes these virtual devices without any issues) - I recommend also using a pair of ZLB VMs in HA configuration. (Run each VM on separate physical hardware, clearly, to get proper fault tolerance :-). It is very easy to setup and gives you reliable fault tolerance with very little effort. The docs for setting it up are nice and clear. Once the HA pair are in place, you manage them just like a single ZenLB Node via the 'virtual IP'. Tim -- Tim Chipman -- Fortech I.T.
