Hi Steve,

First of all,  I would to thank the Zen LB creators and team for making
available a rock solid Load Balancer even the Cisco LB could not handle the MS
Lync infrastructure. My configuration of the VIP and naming convention to
handle all those Lync ports and components are available for sharing with the
Zen LB group for others to use.

I had a similar requirement for Microsoft Lync where I had to handle SSL / TLS
encryption for several ports over TCP datagram   ( i.e 5061, 443, 4443, 444,
etc..). You simply need to  use the Zen Load Balancer  TCP profile, then
specify the Farm Virtual IP and Virtual port and associated them with the IIS
backend servers which are listening for  SSL / TLS  traffic. Please do not
setup nor associate any certificates with the farm definition for your VIP
entries in the Zen LB. Just pretend your farm VIP traffic were being setup for
port 80, but simply specify the ports you are using for SSL / TLS. All traffic
will be routed to the backend where certificates processing will be handled as
before Zen LB was used.

I use Zen LB V2 Stable 1 because  version 3RC1 GUI has a bug when adding
backend servers to be associated with a farm VIP entry. The  menu part to enter
backend information is not displayed for data entry.

here is a sample configuration info to follow:

client  --->  Zen LB ( 443) ---> IIS1/2 (443 or any other port)

...

Farm Virtual IP and Virtual port

10.3.33.91                    443         ( or any other port number)

Hi Emilios,

I think you’ve explained how it works for me. Basically the back end web
servers don’t need http, zen has https but the traffic it passes to the back
end server is http. That does pass http host header information.

Personaly  I don't understand your question very well, but zen can works in
HTTPS mode.

It receives connections and send request to clients in HTTP. is that you mean?
In that case you can do your own test wiht HTTPS profile, use a test
certificate (you can obtain one in zen for this purpose by default) and
configure your backends in 80 port in
 the same farm.

client <-------HTTPS (SSL)---------> ZEN (HTTPS farm) <-----------HTTP(80)
------------> Backends

Hi,

I'm looking for a solution to load balance a couple of IIS 7.5 boxes that host
multiple sites running SSL and using host headers for SSL as they share a
wildcard SSL cert.

My questions are:

1) Can Zen Loadbalancer forward host headers to a web server, standard port 80
host headers.
2) Can it do the same with SSL host headers?

Thanks

Steve Davis
