Hi Emilio
I just want to see what the feeling is about Load Balancing DNS servers? This topic was discussed a long time ago (for an older version) before the L4TxNAT farms were available - has anyone tried this and are there any pros and cons?
We have an almost completely virtualised server infrastructure, with only 2 Physical DC's and 1 Backup server - everything else is inside VMware (including a 3rd DC). We have recently seen a couple of issues with the DNS running on the DC's. As Windows PC's always use the primary DNS and then do the "maybe, maybe not" try the secondary DNS.
My feelings are that is my Primary DNS for Client machines was a Load Balanced server using all 3 in a Round Robin - then we could avoid any outages. The Secondary DNS could be any one of the 3 'real' DC's.
If this was to be implemented, I would use the Nagios Check_DNS script to verify each server.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
