Hello Laura,

Sorry for the delay. It's not really ping through an L4 TCP farm, but through the ZLB itself (ip_forward = 1, so it does route packets) when pinging the real IP of the backend. Ping to the ZLB VIP were indeed not affected, only packet being forwarded/routed by ZLB to the backend.

I havent had any chance to do further testing. We just restarted the ZLB and everything is back to normal.

As said earlier, there were a message in message.2.gz, at Dec 1 18:36:28
I believe this is some sort of crash of the network interface driver or something like that ? So it's maybe more an OS issue ... I'll keep on eye on this and see if that happens again.

Thanks

Hi tibz, the ping responses through the L4 farm configured with TCP protocol should not notice slowness if this problem is suppossed to be a farm issue, as the ping packages are not being sent to the backends.

Have you got any chance to do further testing?

Regards.

I would say yes, as only the L4 farm are using eth1.
TCP farms are using eth0 only.

When persistence is enabled protocol is TCP, and when persistance
is not enabled, protocol is ALL

    Thanks

I forgot to ask you about the protocol configured.

The only strange thing I see is in message.2.gz, at Dec 1
        18:36:28

(all dropped packets you will see are because we use customer
firewall rules to block access to a farm)

The algorithm used is Weight. The type is DNAT.
IP Persistence is used in 2 farms. The 3rd farms is not using it.

        Thanks

Hi Tibz, could you attach the /var/log/messages log file?

Which kind of algorithm are you using? What about the NAT type?
And finally, are you using IP persistence?

        Thanks!
