I didn't realize the copy and paste function worked accross multiple
subclassifications, thanks.

Marshall,
The sub-class (sub-device) template is overriding the base template.
You can start by copying the base template to the sub-class and then
add the new values to monitor. Use the copy/paste buttons in the
PerfConf tab to do this.

OK, hopefully the last question about this.
I renamed the new template to "Device" under
"/devices/servers/windows/" which works fine. I have then created a
new sub-device section "/devices/servers/windows/Web servers/" which
is picking up the mem alerting I created in the custom rrd template.
I am trying to add a custom rrd for this subsection to graph current
web sessions in the "/devices/servers/windows/Web servers/"
subsection. Under PerfConf it shows the "Device" template with a
definition path of "/devices/servers/windows". If I create a new
template with the desired data collection and rename it to "Device"
it seems to overwrite the old collection values and just gives me the
new ones. Basiclly it no longer collects the old cpu and mem values
and just gets the new current sessions values.
The only place this appears to be a problem is in sub-device sections
I have created and not in the default ones.

Marshall,
You need to name the new template "Device" so that it binds to a
device object. Added this to the FAQ.

I recently changed the PerfConfig for "/devices/servers/windows" to
add in threshold alerting for available mem. All the defined
servers under "/devices/servers/windows" picked it up fine and
started alerting on low avail mem.
So then I added a new template, called health, under
"/devices/network/router" for Cisco cpu utilization and available
memory graphing. The defined routers under
"/devices/network/router" did not pick up the new perfconf
template, I can create a local copy and it works fine but it
dosen't appear that I am doing it correctly for the definition path.
Could someone offer me a little guidance?
Thanks,
Marshall
