Sorry for not attaching this to the original email thread but I just
recently subscribed.
I installed 0.22.1 on a CentOS 4.3 base install and following the
install instructions received the message above. In my case, it
turned out that $ZENHOME/etc/zenperfsnmp.conf contained the wrong
port for the zem process. $ZENHOME/etc/zope.conf starts on port 8100,
not the 8081 as created in zenpersnmp.conf. Made that change and all
is well.
Other install notes:
1) CentOS 4.3 base install *without* mysql, mysql-client, or mysql-
shared. Installed the RHEL4 RPMs for MySQL 5.0.24
2) Installed Python 2.4 (rpmbuild --rebuild) -- I got confused
thinking I'd need to do some magic with /usr/local/zenoss/bin, but I
see it picks up and creates a symlink just fine.
As we use RHEL4 and CentOS 4.x as our base system, this is working
well. Now to create a startup script (or take it from the VMware
appliance) and we're good to start testing.
Regards,
--- Gavin
