You should be able to use python as built by Red Hat for FC5. Just
make sure you get the development environment for it:
# yum install python-devel
The following should work (that is, not print any errors):
$ /usr/bin/python -c 'import zlib'

i know i've installed the zlib module, but it's still not working.. can anyone
help me with this? if you need specific information from the machine, just
ask. also, let me know how to get the information you need (like i said, i'm
still learning this stuff.
