Yes, it's a struggle, and install.sh is our best effort so far. It
isn't really an installer, but more of a build system. Perhaps I should
rename it so that people understand they are creating software, and not
simply installing it.
Checks have been added for gcc & g++.

Your product looks interesting, but the install.sh script is not easy to use and
the install instructions do not list all the required dependencies.
Consider spending more time making your installer work smoothly under common
linux setups.
The first thing the installer should do is check for all required dependencies
and report missing
ones.
