Joel,
If you are referring to the new "import" functionality, for example,
on these pages:
http://localhost:8080/zport/dmd/Devices/perfConfig
http://localhost:8080/zport/dmd/Devices/nagiosConfig
There are a couple things:
1) until Zenoss.net is setup and released (which will be soon!), you
can only import Zenoss Object XML files form the file system
2) if people on this mail list are feeling generous, they can export
their templates and share them with you -- to import them, you'll
need to copy them to you $ZENHOME/import directory, at which point
they will show up in the Zenoss management pages where importing is
supported.
With Zenoss.net, you'll be able to create an account and then export
your custom templates to your space on Z.net. In the Z.net UI, you'll
be able to manage these templates, including sharing them with
others. Likewise, you will be able to import templates from Z.net by
browsing through categories, authors, etc.
Hmm... thinking about #2... if people do want to share some of their
templates with members on the mail list, we should probably try to
use one thread so that they are easy to find... In fact, for RRD
templates, this email's probably the best one to use ;-) If people
want to share their Nagios templates, then just start a new email
thread with that as the subject.
