Hi Dave,

Yes, Zenoss supports distributed data collection, but like Erik said, you should be able to collect this much data on one server without any problem.

Are the missing collections associated with any log messages in zenperfsnmp.log? Are they associated with each other, or with a time of day? Are the machines located together on the same subnet?

For example, if you perform backups over the network at 6:00 AM, and the associated network traffic makes an intermediate router very busy, it may be dropping SNMP packets.

You might try increasing the timeout or the retry count for those devices to see if it makes any difference.

I am currently monitoring about 150 devices (about 60 servers and 90
switches), and I have noticed that on some devices I get gaps in the RRD
graphs.

I am concerned about this because I am not sure if it is an indicator
that the system is too busy to poll that device. I don't get any alerts
about the device being down, but there are gaps in a lot of the graphs
of the devices. Should I be looking at perhaps breaking my monitoring
server into multiple stations? Also, does ZenOSS support clustering or
something similar? Can I have multiple 'sensor' stations reporting to a
central server that I monitor everything on?

Thanks in advance for any advice!
