I have been testing the new 0.22.3 rPath releases, and first I would like to make a suggestion. I would recommend creating the zenoss VMware virtual appliance with virtual SCSI drives instead of IDE, because some of the VMware products (ESX Server for one) will not run virtual machines that use virtual IDE drives. As far as I know (not 100% sure), the VMware player can handle virtual machines using virtual IDE or SCSI drives.
Also, I created a new virtual machine using the rPath 0.22.3 iso that was released. I just have a couple problems so far. First, when I try to change the "admin" password in zope using 'zenpass,' it says /home/zenoss/bin/zenpass: line 13: zpasswd.py: command not found I can't find the zpasswd.py file anywhere, and attempts to manually change the password haven't turned out very well, so I reverted back to the default password for now. The second problem I have had is that zenperfsnmp will suddenly stop collecting, as seen in zenperfsnmp.log: 2006-09-20 12:58:53 INFO zen.zenperfsnmp: collected 6 of 6 devices in 2.15 2006-09-20 12:59:53 INFO zen.zenperfsnmp: collected 6 of 6 devices in 2.02 2006-09-20 13:00:53 INFO zen.zenperfsnmp: collected 6 of 6 devices in 2.01 2006-09-20 13:01:53 INFO zen.zenperfsnmp: collected 6 of 6 devices in 2.07 2006-09-20 13:02:53 INFO zen.zenperfsnmp: collected 6 of 6 devices in 2.15 2006-09-20 13:03:53 INFO zen.zenperfsnmp: collected 6 of 6 devices in 2.00 2006-09-20 13:07:51 WARNING zen.zenperfsnmp: no devices found, keeping existing list I didn't see anything obvious in the other log files, and restarting zenperfsnmp doesn't help, but doing "zenoss restart" does fix it.
