Hi Joseph,

Here's how you can register mibs with Zenoss:

http://dev.zenoss.org/trac/wiki/FAQ#HowdoIregistermibswithZenoss

You can load the nagios plugins using any mechanism supported by nagios. There are rpms for Red-Hat based distros, for example. You may wish to modify the zProperty zCommandPath, or use full path names when configuring your commands. I always forget to do that.

Thanks for the help, if I have mibs for the device, how would I add
these.

Also the nagios plugins, seems python setup.py fails.

Is there a different way to install the plugins.

Regards

Joseph

If I can't use dns, can I add the names via /etc/hosts and resolve them that way.

All that is required is that the name entered is capable of being
located on a network. This includes IP addresses and resolvable names.
Whatever way your system uses resolves names will be used. Most *NIXes use /etc/nsswitch.conf to determine what lookup mechanisms
to use and in what order they are used. If you have a "files" value for
"hosts" in nsswitch.conf and it comes before any other values in that
line (such as "dns"), then /etc/hosts will be used to resolve names into
IP addresses before any other lookup mechanism is used. This is the
default for most *NIX systems. Thus, making an entry in /etc/hosts
should work for you.

Note that none of that has to do with Zenoss -- it's all system
configuration, etc.

Hope that helps,

d
