If the interface is down by administrative action (that is, it is meant
to be down), then Zenoss will not collect performance information on it.
The ability to manually manipulate which interfaces to collect
regardless of their status at modeling time is being planned now.

How long are you waiting? Zenoss needs to collect a few data points
before it will graph any thing. It only polls every 5 minutes (by
default)
so it could take 20-30 minutes before seeing any thing. Also, zenoss
re-reads it's configuration by default every 20 minutes so it might
take 20
minutes before zenoss even realizes you added the device (although
restarting the services forces it to re-read it's configuration).
I waited 24 hours. In that time, I was getting errors that the files and
directories did not exist.

You would have to re-collect the configuration to get the Interfaces,
but
again it will take 20-30 minutes for the graphs to populate.
To be clear, the interfaces were showing in Zenoss, they were just
marked as
down. So what you're saying is that any time a new interface is brought
up, we have to recollect the configuration ?
