Hi Eric!
(I'm not too sure if this got through properly already)
Does that mean if I allow "Manage Events" in the Zope permissions to
ZenUser, then they could acknowledge and comment on events? Most of
the permissions are set to acquire which I assume means that if you
set them on the top level, they propagate downwards or am I completely
confused about the Zope security model?
I saw a macro(?) called in one of the zpt files called isManager. This
is what I was referring to as embedded access control. Surely this
would have to be hasManageEvents or something along those lines?
The difference between assigning roles in Zenoss and how they are
applied on the Zope level is a little blurry to me right now. I guess
I need to ponder it a bit more to get my head around it.
Many thanks,
Jason.

Hi Jason,
There is a roll-based system right now. Check out:
http://localhost:8080/zport/manage_access
(Substitute your zenoss hostname/ip for localhost).
The permissions you see in the source files are assigned to roles, and
most of them are configured at the /zport level. The "Manage Events"
permission is allowed to a Manager at the / level.
