Ah, ok. So you have modified the template at PerfConf at /Devices/Network/IP.

At this point in the Device tree:

   http://zenosshost:8080/zport/dmd/Devices/Network/IP/perfConfig

Where zenosshost is your zenoss installation, you should see a "device" configuration with a check box. If you select that configuration, you should see your template. All the devices under Network/IP should all refer to this template.
Is that not the case?

Hi Graham,
I'm confused. We may be using different definitions for the words we're
using.

If you select PerfConf, you are looking at the template for that Device,
or Component. You added a Data Source and Data Point. If you add a
graph, you will be able to select the Data Point from the list of
available Data Points. The graph should appear on the status page for
that Device or Component.

I take from your message that you can graph the value for RTA. What
more are you looking for? Are you trying to get a graph for a
Component, like an interface, to appear on the device status page?

Sorry for the confusion, I asked two questions in one email and it
seems that the second one has been answered.

The first question was how to set up an RRD template, that contains
the check_ping command, for all devices of a certain class, in my case
one that I created; Devices/Network/IP.

The HowTo "Working with Nagios Plugins in Zenoss" implied that I could
create a template that would then be picked up by all devices in this
class.

What I get is the standard Devices template that just collects Uptime.
