Hi Daniel,
The detail screen is for unplanned event fields. For example, the
values received in an SNMP trap are stored as extra fields on the
event. The values are persisted in a separate event detail table. If
the detail screen is empty, there are no extra values: they are all
stored in a standard event.

Eric,
I understand that. But once you do that, you will have a pop-up
window. In that pop up window, there are 3 tabs at the top of the
screen, Fields, Details and Log.
I assume that the "Details" tab is supposed to show you more detailed
information from the event than what is seen on the fields tab. Is
there a way to enable this tab to be filled out?
Thanks,
-Daniel

Hi Daniel,
I'm unfamiliar with NetCool, however, you can get the event details
by selecting the magnifying glass in the last column of the event list.

Zenoss folks,
How do enable the Details tab in an event?
In Netcool, when an event comes across, you can double-click an
event and it looks very similar to how an event is shown in the
Zenoss event list.
In the rules files, you can enable the details tab to be filled out
by putting a "details($*)" at the bottom. Is there a way to enable
this for Zenoss and if so, where? I tried to find something similar
in the $ZENHOME/etc files, but i cant find anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. It might help be debug alot
of events as they come across.
