After adding the new hostname for my Zenoss box, I am receiving /zen/ping
errors stating:

X.X.X.X sendto error Host NEWHOSTNAME and newhostname.mydomain.local are
both using ip X.X.X.X

I also remember reading somewhere on how to rename a device in Zenoss. I
renamed a device from the <manage> tab but now I am receiving no graph
information
for the renamed device. But I am still receiving error reports from the old
device name.

Any ideas?

Thanks again!

I successfully changed the hostname and IP address. Although, now I am
receiving heartbeat event errors for device "localhost.localdomain". How do
I remove the "localhost.localdomain" association in Zenoss so I stop
receiving emails for a heatbeat failure that does not exist?

Thanks again.

Your etc/hosts file should get updated first, but leave
"localhost.localdomain".

Type the command hostname

Thanks. But I'm confused as to where I add the hostname. Is this added to
the ifcfg-eth0?

Thanks Joe!

#hostname <your new name>

For Static entries edit:   /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

# Device file installed by rBuilder
DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=static

Quick Question:

I am currently using VM Appliance v1.1.1. and would like to change the name
of the virtual host. The machine is currently named "localhost.localdomain".
I would like give this machine a name that follows our current naming
convention, as well as give the machine a static IP.

Can this be done, and if so how do I accomplish this?

Thanks.
