If I try to run that rpm command against the rpm itself, I just get "is not installed"...
I've since given up on the rpm route and thought I would install from source, as I usually do with things like this, such as Cacti. I followed the instructions and run the install.sh, where it gives up on: "MySQL root passwd: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'zenoss'@'localhost' (using password: YES) mysql install, user or password is incorrect" It appears that the install script is trying to log into MySql? Doesn't it need user intervention to enter a pw? I haven't seen a script that tries to log into MySql this way during install. Usually software like this wants the user to log into MySql, create the account and privs, the pw, etc, then also as root, either cat a .sql file into the DB or something like "mysql -u root -p dbname < db.sql". This box has Cacti running with MySql right now with no problems. Did I miss something in the install notes? All I see in reference to MySql is: "Make sure you assign a password to root Make sure mysql_config is in the path" ------------------------ Ron Weales -------------------- m2f -------------------- Read this topic online here: http://community.zenoss.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=5044#5044 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ zenoss-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.zenoss.org/mailman/listinfo/zenoss-users
