It's not intended. It should be clearing that event. Here's the ticket:

Hi, I've set up Zenoss (1.1.1, Centos 4.4) to monitor my laptop. When I remove my laptop from the network, zenoss notices the ping failure and creates a /Status/Ping event. It also creates a /Status/Snmp event "Unable to read processes on device".
