Thanks Chet.
I was able to find a way around the command by using "/usr/local/zenoss/libexec/check_http -I
0.0.0.0 -e "HTTP/1" " and it generates an HTTP OK which is what I'm looking for.
Now for another problem. I'm sure I'll be able to figure out how to disable
pings on a device and just have it just check_http instead, but if someone
knows and wouldn't mind passing the knowledge.
And:
As per thread - http://community.zenoss.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1546
I hate to bring this thread back from the dead but I also am having this
problem.
If I create my own device class (ie - /Custom Monitoring/) and I add in
Performance Templates they are not added to the Devices that I have associated
with that class. If I associate a device with Custom Monitoring the RRDTemplate
will still be /Devices.
However, if I take that same device and associate it with /Server/Windows I
will get the RRDTemplate of /Devices/Server/Windows.
I still don't understand how this system works. If I want to have custom
monitoring for check_http command then wouldn't I create it under a device
class and have the devices I want monitored associated with that class?
Josh,
I'm surprised that check_http command works. I tested it on my system
and confirmed that will make it check the localhost web server
though.. so oh well.
Disabling ping monitoring for a device is dead-simple. Go to its
zProperties and set zPingMonitorIgnore to True.
That thread was dead because it sounds like you're doing everything
right. The templates are used in a strictly overriding hierarchical
fashion. If you have a "Device" template at the /Devices level and a
"Device" template at the /Devices/Custom level then any device you
assign to the /Devices/Custom class will have the template from that
class applied to it. Maybe the problem would be more apparent of you
explained exactly what you click on and exactly what you see.
