James, Fantastic stuff. You've already done so much, but could I please ask that you update the Wiki for the Nagios plugins at http://dev.zenoss.org/trac/wiki/HowToNagiosCreateTemplate. Your guide helped me get over the step of no rrd data from a nagios plugin, with the (implied) clue that the result parser doesn't like spaces around the "=". I think the re for the parser could be a bit more tolerant, but that's life.
