Hi, I am looking for a tool which will monitor our live web server and check that the web sites are running, the database is OK and our mailing tool is OK. I have come across Zenoss but as I am completely new to server monitoring aswell as Zenoss I would like to just check that Zenoss is suitable for our needs.
Our websites run on IIS6 on Windows Server 2003. I intend to install Zenoss on the live server itself. Is this a good idea? Or will it use up too many server resources? Really what I am looking for is a basic application and website monitoring tool which is easy to use and maintain and will send out email alerts when there are problems. >From looking around the Zenoss site I get the impression it is geared to >larger networks, but can it be used to monitor a single server whilst being >installed on that? Thank you for your help.
