Hello,
I'm new to SNMP and Zenoss. I have developed a Linux service/daemon written
in Python that runs on Fedora Core 6 and Python 2.5. My company will be using
Zenoss to monitor my service (along with others we are developing), so I need
to generate an SNMP-based MIB (I think). Are there any getting started guides
available for developers from this perspective.
Ken,
I've done some of this for my systems too. Writing an actual MIB file
is done rather simply by copying from your existing MIBs. The way I've
been exposing the data to SNMP managers is to use the SNMP::Persist
module that can be found on CPAN. It allows you to use NetSNMP's
pass_persist exention hook to add to the default MIBs. It is quite
easy to use, and has worked great for me.
