Followed the guide here for installation:
http://webaj.com/how-install-zenoss-1-1-2-centos-5-0-server-and-network-monitoring.htm

Am currently monitoring 51 devices and am trying to create an Alert Rule that
notifies me when a device goes down.

Initially created a generic alert rule and received almost 2000 e-mails so I
know that e-mail is working.

I add the "Event Class is /Status/Ping" and bring down a device to test and no
e-mail is received. This appears to be a pretty common error and I found several threads
dealing with it.

I downloaded the file from http://dev.zenoss.org/trac/changeset/4817 but it
still doesn't work.

If I try to view the output from zenactions run -v10 but get the following
error:

/zenactions: line 15: /bin/zenfunctions: No such file or directory
./zenactions: line 21: generic: command not found

When starting zenactions manually you should do it as the zenoss user.
Otherwise the required environment variables won't be setup. Once you
get that running and can see the query zenactions is performing it
should be easier to see why your alerting rule isn't being triggered.
