Has the problem being solved? I have the same issue. I think it should not be related to FQDN or not. I have tested the configuration with wbemtest and I found that it is not possible to have zenwin use any kind of wmi credential locally as wmi does not allow such credential to be used. A simple test is run wbemtest and try to connect locally (root\cimv2 or \\localhost\root\cimv2 or \\fqdn(local)\root\cimv2) and provide a credential. You will get EXACTLY the same message back with wbemtest, so it is not a python/wmi issue. I think as the monitor suppose to install in the box being monitored a credential should not be necessary.
