Adding schedule seemed to only work once. I removed all "alerting rules" and 
"event rules" and just added one alert rule, and tested it. (Also removed some 
objects from "Administered Objects", but don't think this made difference). 
Zenoss is now pumping out the emails at full steam again.
I think it's related to http://dev.zenoss.org/trac/ticket/1085 .
