If you're not already running the 1.9.7 VMware image, I'd suggest getting it and starting with that. Starting with the 1.9 beta versions you can run the Windows WMI monitoring (including event log) from the Linux system. Thus negating the need for installing ZenWin on a separate Windows server.
Installing the SNMP Informant MIB extension is still a good idea to get performance data out of Windows servers, but you don't need the syslog_agent because Zenoss polls event logs natively. Once you get 1.9.7 running, go to the zProperties for the /Devices/Server/Windows device class and setup your zWinUsername and zWinPassword. This accounts needs to have either local administrator or domain administrator access. For a local account, preface it with ".\" like ".\Administrator" for a domain account preface it with the domain name such as "MYDOMAIN\My Domain Admin User" After about 10 minutes, zenwinmodeler will pickup your windows servers, and the zeneventlog daemon will start bringing event logs into your Zenoss event console. ------------------------ Chet Luther -------------------- m2f -------------------- Read this topic online here: http://community.zenoss.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=6857#6857 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ zenoss-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.zenoss.org/mailman/listinfo/zenoss-users
