This procedure will only work if you are using the EXACT same version of Zenoss
on EL5 as you were on EL4. Otherwise, the zen2dump utility mentioned in the 1.x
-> 2.0 upgrade document would have to be used to migrate the ZODB data instead
of just copying those Data.* files.
1. Prepare the new system.
a. Install the el5 RPM on the new system as you normally would for a fresh
install.
b. Stop all zenoss proceses on the new system: "service zenoss stop"
2. Copy Zenoss data from old server to new.
a. Stop all zenoss processes on the old system.
b. Copy $ZENHOME/var/Data.* from old system to new.
c. Copy the contents of $ZENHOME/perf/ from old system to new.
d. Backup the MySQL events database with mysqldump and import on new system.
3. Start Zenoss on the new system.
That should be all there is to it. As always, don't delete your old data until
you're sure that it works on the new system.
