Hi,

I had the same issue after hostname change.
I did the following.

I checked in MySql CLI the events database which corresponds to Zenoss.
Checked heartbeat table:
"select * from heartbeat;" 
This showed my previous hostname in device columns and also the correct 
hostname.

Than I did the following steps:
1. Management > Event Manager > Refresh Event Schema
2. Management > Event Manager > Clear Event Cache
3. Management > Event Manager > Clear All Hearbeats

This solved my problem.

After this 3 steps the mysql select showed only the correct device names in 
device column and the annoying  heartbeat failure messages gone.
