For what it's worth, the netsnmp_get_version issue seems unrelated to this. I solved that issue by applying the fix in this thread: http://community.zenoss.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2335&highlight=netsnmpgetversion (renaming name to name1 in one of the python scripts). That did not fix the issue of adding devices, however.
