i followed the examples on the docs and made a nicely formated graph legend
example. thought i would share it with everyone because it took a little while
to figure out. Assuming you have three datapoints (ds1_time,ds2_time,ds3_time)
and you want to see them in one graph and be able to tell them apart this is
the code you would put in your "custom" field when editing the graph, just
replace your datapoint names for the ds1_time,ds2_time,...

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

CDEF:t0=ds1_time
CDEF:t1=ds2_time
CDEF:t2=ds3_time

VDEF:t0max=t0,MAXIMUM
VDEF:t0avg=t0,AVERAGE
VDEF:t0min=t0,MINIMUM
VDEF:t0pct=t0,95,PERCENT
VDEF:t0cur=t0,LAST
VDEF:t1max=t1,MAXIMUM
VDEF:t1avg=t1,AVERAGE
VDEF:t1min=t1,MINIMUM
VDEF:t1pct=t1,95,PERCENT
VDEF:t1cur=t1,LAST
VDEF:t2max=t2,MAXIMUM
VDEF:t2avg=t2,AVERAGE
VDEF:t2min=t2,MINIMUM
VDEF:t2pct=t2,95,PERCENT
VDEF:t2cur=t2,LAST

the example on the rrdgraph site didnt have the "current" colum, that is
something i added to be able to see the latest recorded information. I hope
this helps other who are haing trouble with graph formatting.
