Well after a few attempts to figure this out on my own, I'm asking for help. I first took a stab at it without reading directions, you can guess how far that got me. So I tried to follow the instructions for RHEL5. That really didn't work.
The RPM appears to install fine, and MySQL starts fine. However, the first time the zenoss service starts it gets a bunch of errors, this one I believe is probably the most important. ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO) ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'zenoss'@'localhost' (using password: YES) At first I couldn't ping "localhost" for some reason so I thought maybe that was it, I added 127.0.0.1 as local host in the hosts file and that fixed that, but the error persisted. One set of instructions I had read had me set a root MYSQL password, which I would guess is my issue. Well, sorry the post is all over the place, but if anyone can help. I'd appreciate it.
