Thanks for the reply James.

Im starting to believe i have missunderstood quite a few parts here.
If I understand it correct now, RRDTool usally collects information with high
resolution at the begining and then averages out older data, like daily with
high resolution and mothly with low. And that is where the AVERAGE and MAX
comes in to play? Like it takes 10 data points and stores the average in ds
AVERAGE and the max value in ds MAX. So you can view either or, right?

But if thats so I have made a bit more work then needed for my box.
Since I have made Zenoss create RRD files with 1 minute resolution throughout
the year.

My RRD configuration looks like this:
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:1:525600
RRA:MAX:0.5:1:525600

And when I view them with the fetch command they seem to hold the same data.

But what confuses me most is what makes Zenoss average out data when I zoom out
on a graph. Since I want it to display the same max values as when I zoom in to
the point where the resolution of the data is >= the width of the graph.

And to answer your question about what formula I am useing.
It is the default interface bandwith graphs I need this for, since I am to
report monthly utilization of leased lines. And it will be the end off me if
they show 1/3 of the actual use.

The post about check_http was to be able to monitor the delay of a proxy server
I have resieved complaints about, so now I run checks through and past to a
couple of remote web sites and compare the results on a graph, witch works very
well.
