ok so again i think i figured this out myself. The FileSystem template doesn't work under the Perf tab but it does work under the OS->FileSystem ... so if you navigate to the particular filesystem you are looking for on each host you can see the graph for the filesystem usage. ok not exactly what i expected but i'm flexible.
now, i'm looking at the thresholds for the filesystem. it does not look like it is generating alerts when the threshold is more than 90%.... to double check that i wasn't out of my mind i created a local copy of the template for that particular filesystem on that particular host and then where .9 (90%) was i put in .1 (10%). the filesystem is clearly more that 1% full. however, it is not generating alerts. I veryified under the status tab the monitored was set to true. Next I navigated to the template and selected the threshold link, i now have here.totalBlocks * .1 and then verified that enabled was set to true. So everything looks correct? Did I miss something?
