I'm sure I'll get there eventually, as I will no doubt want to be able to run it on my laptop as well (which is running Gentoo w/ KDE).
The reason I started w/Windows is simply because thats what my primary PC at work runs. In theory it should be able to run under Mono on Linux. Though I;ve never tried setting up ODBC drivers with Mono - which in part is why I want to rework it to not access the mysql database directly. I also don;t know if Mono can handle system-tray-style applications either... maybe that'll be something interesting for me to try out at lunch today :) That all being said, I would certianly favour doing something thats runs nativaly cross-platform. I have extremely little experience writing X-windows applications though... done alot of unix console & daemon stuff, just nothing using a gui more advanced than ncurses :p -- Matt ------------------------ Matt Watson -------------------- m2f -------------------- Read this topic online here: http://community.zenoss.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=8745#8745 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ zenoss-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.zenoss.org/mailman/listinfo/zenoss-users
