In order for you to get Zenoss working using the VM Ware Image and VM Ware Player there is no need to install anything. The VM Ware Image you can download from the website already contains everything you need to get started. All you need is to double click the image file after you installed VM Ware Player and you'll have a ready-to-go Zenoss Core installation. The capability to retrieve WMI natively from a linux machine is only offered in Zenoss Enterprise. Regardless you still have the capability to monitor your Windows servers using SNMP. Just make sure to install an SNMP agent (either MS or Informant).
