I had the same problem a few days ago. It was because I specified a wrong SNMP community for the device, though instead of stopping, zenoss should have said something like "Request timed out on device <device>, are you sure your SNMP settings are correct?" I don't know why it didn't, but setting a valid community made the problem disappear.
