If you want to add additional information to a device that isn't modeled/discovered automatically I suggest you actually write your own modeler plugin. This will allow you to store this type of information in the same way Zenoss does it at the moment. The modeler plugins get run against a device during the modeling process (surprise). The HRFileSystemMap.py is a good example to get started on, it's located in Products/DataCollector/plugins/zenoss/snmp.
