Did it give the same error in the zenbuild.log ?
Did you have a previous installation of zenoss ?
If you are wanting to start fresh, here are some things I ran into after trying
to overwrite a zenoss v1.x install to start a fresh zenoss 2.x
1. drop events database (this corrected the first error you mentioned about
"this version of mysql doesn't support...")
2. remove /opt/zenoss (or whatever your zenoss install folder is) ("unable to
create the initial Zenoss object database" is what this action corrected.)
Try reinstalling after this is complete. Hopefully that should take care of it.
