Hi,

I'm curious if it is possible to change the IP address Zenoss uses to monitor
IP Services on a device with multiple IP addresses.

For example, let's say we add a device to Zenoss with an IP address of
192.168.5.25. This device also has several other IP addresses assigned to it
and certain services are configured to listen only on a specific IP address.
After the device is modeled using SNMP, the IP Services are correctly listed
and the proper IP address(es) of each IP Service are shown. So we have http
listed as using IP address 192.168.5.26, smtp using 192.168.5.27, and ntp using
192.168.5.28. All of this is correct. The problem comes in with the actual
monitoring of these services.

It would appear that Zenoss is attempting to monitor all of the services on the
device using the main IP address (192.168.5.25) rather than the IP address that
the individual services are listening to. This of course causes the monitoring
to fail and events are generated.

Is this known behavior? Are we doing something incorrectly? Is there any way
around this?

To work around this currently we create new devices for each service that uses
its own IP address. This does the trick but seems to be far from ideal. For
each physical server we may have to create many devices.

Zenoss version is 2.0.6. Please let me know if any further information is
required. Thank you.
