One of the things I'd like to have Zenoss do is monitor the functionality and response-times that NIS clients see, for several different NIS servers and domains. So far I haven't been able to find any sort of tools that let one query arbitrary NIS servers for arbitrary domains. Has anyone solved this, for any monitoring system?
About the only thing I can think of right now is an ugly hack, involving sniffing network traffic and having tethereal/tshark decode the RPC traffic, and parsing text output to calculate response times. -- David Carmean Network Appliance, Inc Infosystems Architect, 495 E.
