Last week we launched our Zenpack website
(http://www.zenoss.com/community/projects/zenpacks/), nothing too fancy just
the basic information.
Just to recap:
A ZenPack is a package that adds new functionality to the Zenoss Core or
Enterprise Edition. A ZenPack may add Action Rules, Event Classes, Event
Commands, User Commands, Service Classes, Data Sources, Graphs, Performance
Templates, Reports, Model Extensions or Product Definitions. A ZenPack may also
add new daemons and new UI features such as menus.
You don’t need to program a lick to write a Zenpack.
Here’s a quick tutorial
(http://www.zenoss.com/community/projects/zenpacks/zenpack-documentation/creating-a-zenpack/)
on how to export a Zenpack from your existing Zenoss instance. In ten minutes
time you can export a Zenpack and then share it with other users. It could be
a monitor for Oracle or your NetApp filer or something else that you have set
up under Zenoss already. The key is to start sharing your experience with other
Zenoss users and have them do the same so it’s easier bring applications and
hardware under management.

Now for the fabulous prizes, for the first ten people who create a Zenpack I am
offering a limited edition, black Zenoss Golf Shirt. Take my word for it they
are very nice. If I get 20 Zenpacks in the next 30 days, I will institute the
mystery prize, something very cool yet to be decided. To win I will draw from
the names of all Zenpack contributors. Email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you
have questions.
